What to Expect

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
The United Soccer League (USL) is the largest and fastest-growing professional soccer organization in North America, possessing more than a decade of experience in bringing the world’s game to communities across the United States and Canada.
Annapolis Select USL-Youth provides top-level youth players with the chance to enhance their skills through training with professional coaches and compete in challenging matches against other USL-Youth clubs during the summer.
I play for another club can I still play USL Youth for ASFC?
Yes, players from other clubs can still participate in USL Youth with ASFC. The league does not affect your season-long player carding and is considered a club-neutral program.
Benefits of USL Youth
This league will be highly competitive with the best talents from regional clubs participating. The program emphasizes individual technical skills and team play principles, aiming to improve players' speed of thought, awareness, movement, and vision. By playing USL Youth, players can stay sharp and hone their skills to get a head start on the competition.
HOW DO I TRYOUT FOR A TEAM?
USL Youth tryouts are held annually in January and February for the summer season. These tryouts are open to all players, whether they are currently with Annapolis Select FC or from other clubs. Players will be evaluated by coaches and other staff members during the tryouts, and offers will be made immediately afterward to form the teams.

SCHEDULE
The season will last about 6-8 weeks in June and July. There is a national event for qualifying teams located in Tampa, Florida in December.
The teams will practice approximately twice per week and play 6-8 games. All practices and home games will be at Liberty Field in Upper Marlboro. Travel games will be regionally based and no longer than 60-90 mins away most likely.
COMMITMENT
We expect players to be available for most practices and games with a minimum requirement of one practice per week. We can work around vacations as long as there is open communication and generally a high level of commitment.
ROSTERS
To accommodate planned absences during the summer, rosters will be slightly larger than usual:
- 7v7 teams - 12+
- 9v9 teams - 14+
- 11v11 team - 18+
AGE GROUPS/ BIRTH YEARS
We will offer teams based on birth year, ranging from U9 to U15, including the following age groups:
2016, 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 & 2010
HOW MUCH DOES THE PROGRAM COST?
The total fee for the program is $550, which covers:
- Practice and game field rental
- Coaching fees
- Player registration and league entry fees
- Referee fees and administrative costs
This fee does not include personal travel expenses or uniforms.
HOW MUCH DO UNIFORMS COST?
Players will use the current Annapolis Select FC uniforms. If a player is not already with Annapolis Select FC, they will need to purchase the USL Youth Summer uniform package, which costs approximately $175.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
You will receive a formal invitation to join a team through the League Apps registration system.
To accept your team spot, players can either pay the full fee of $550 or split the payment into two installments:
- Full Payment: $550
- Initial Payment: $300
- Balance Payment: $250 (due by April 1, 2025)
A 5% sibling discount is available.

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
Once you commit to the program and pay, this is non refundable. Collected fees are immediately used for all of the expenses listed above.
